"His eye is on the sparrow, and i know He watches me..."

Happy New Year Friends!  I posted that I was working on this painting long ago, and it's been hanging on my wall for awhile. My New Year's resolution is to post on my blogs much more regularly. So, I thought I'd start with this painting. Now about this painting, I love this old hymn. I like to think about how we feel so caged at times, and yet the love of God sets us free when we can truly rest in Him.  Along the sides of the skirt of the dress are handwritten the words, "***I sing because I'm happy, I sing because I'm free.  For His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.***  The photo color is not the best ... and it's also a lil fuzzy, but you get the idea. SO - maybe in 2011 I also need to work on getting this taking photos of my art work down a little better too. ha ha!  I also included a couple of videos of a couple of my fav versions of this hymn that i lurve.  enjoy!

Lyrics to His Eye Is On The Sparrow

Words By: Civilla D. Mar tin, 1905

Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heaven and home,
When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Refrain
I sing because I'm happy,
I sing because I'm free,
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.

"Let not your heart be troubled," His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears;
Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Refrain

Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Refrain

This song reminds me of my grandfather. He would play it with a bow on his musical saw. Seriously. I love your new layout and look forward to being stimulated by your creativity.
